Eastward

Eastward

My heart is in the east

With my arms wrapped around those who mourn

Those who hope

Those who despair

My heart is in the east

In a land I’ve never seen but know deep in my soul

Where promises were broken

and the “Never Again” became again right now

My heart is in the east

with those I know and all the others I don’t

We are connected by blood

We are connected by history

We are connected by the land

By Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

By Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel and Leah

My heart is in the east, broken into a million pieces
